The toy sale!

Written by

On Wednesday we had our toy sale! We put tables outside the classroom and a banner. Children put their toys they had made in the classroom and in the forest out on the tables along with their captions. Their captions explained what the toy is and what it looked like. The sale was a huge success and parents came along to buy their children's toys! Take a look at our pictures!  IMG 6655

Grandparents came to visit!

Written by

On Tuesday some grandparents from Ash class came into the class to talk about toys the used to play with. The grandparents showed toys like, spinning tops, puppets, puzzles, snap games, toy busses and toy cars. They spoke about how they used to play outside lots too and how they wouldn't need to worry about cars in the road because there wasn't many cars. Some grandparents spoke about how they used to make toys in the forest or play in the tree house. We had so much fun learning about what they used to play with!

On Midsummer’s day Year one had a visit from pinhole photographer Justin Quinnell. The children learned about why the sun is high in the summer and low in the winter. They then installed a couple of very special pinhole cameras which were fixed onto the school and will take a continuous photograph for 6 months till the shortest day December the 21st. Then the camera will be harvested to show 6 months of sunshine. After installing the cameras the class had a look at a camera obscura which looked like a giant eye and made the world appear upside down. Everyone enjoyed the session  and learned a lot about light, the fastest thing in the universe!
