Welcome to Beech Class
Welcome to Beech class!
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday and enjoyed all the beautiful weather we had!
As always, there is a lot to pack into the term and year ahead!
Our enquiry heading this term is ‘Imagine life in Ancient Egypt’. We will consider this topic throughout our DT, history and English lessons. In DT, the children will be making papier mache Egyptian death masks and mummifying fish.
In English we will begin this term by learning and writing instructions about the process of mummification. The children will then be working on their description and adventure story writing, taking inspiration from our class book ‘Flat Stanley and The Great Egyptian Grave Robbery.’
We will be starting our maths this term with a focus on place value and number, looking at 3 digit numbers and finding 10 and 100 more and less than given numbers as well ordering and reading numbers up to 1000. How we can improve our mental methods for adding and subtracting numbers.
The children will also have an indoor session of PE on a Wednesday afternoon which will focus on balance and coordination. On a Thursday afternoon the children will be going to forest school, they will need a full change of clothes with long sleeves and trousers. In regard to footwear old trainers or wellies are best.
Homework and spellings will be handed out on a Friday, with homework due in on a Wednesday and spelling test on Thursdays. Obviously any support you are able to give your child with these is very much appreciated.
