Welcome to term 6!
How quickly this year has rushed by -the last few weeks of year 2 are upon us.
This term our topic is Australia - What is the same and What is different in our world? Have a look at our topic web to see what we will be doing in Geography and art. Please do bring in anything you may have at home about Australia.
In English, we will think about traditional tales we already know and discover aboriginal traditional tales known as Dreamtime Stories. Our class book will be Rainbow Bird by Eric Maddern, which we will use to inspire our own writing. The Armitages are still our authors of the term, so if you have any books by Ronda or David at home please bring them into share. We will also read the last few Lighthouse keepers books that we missed out last term. In reading we will focus on our inference skills and considering the order of a text - make sure you're reading at home everyday.
In Maths we will focus on reasoning and problem solving across of of our maths learning. We will also be taking a more in depth look at time. In science we will be learning about plants.
Other upcoming events this term include a geography field trip (we're NOT going to Australia!), international day, the summer concert and shuffle up day (no, I don't know who your new teacher is yet!), so we're going to be busy.
Let's enjoy these last few weeks - and hope the sun starts shining.
