Hello and welcome to Hazel Class and year 4!
We have had a brilliant start to the year already, the children are energetic and enthusiastic, long may it continue!
First things first, our staff: Class teacher – Miss Bonner
Teaching assistant (Tuesday – Thursday mornings): Miss Fitzwilliam
Teaching assistant (shared with Oak class Monday and Friday): Miss Thomas
We have a very exciting term to start off the year. Our learning will build on last year whilst beginning to cover some of the more challenging year 4 objectives.
In maths we’ll be working on place value knowledge and learning how to do written addition and subtraction of 4 digit numbers. Our English learning will focus on word types and how to create detailed and exciting character/setting descriptions. Our lessons will focus around our class book, The thief, the fool and the big fat king by Terry Deary, which also links to our topic The Tudors. Later on in the term, we will be going on a Tudor walk around Bristol to learn about the significant places at the time and the history of the place where we live! For our full Topic plan for the term, see our Topic web Topic web term 1.doc
We hope you are as excited as us about the year to come. You are welcome to join us for the induction evening on Thursday 20th September where you can ask any questions you might still have and find out more about life in year 4!
We look forward to getting to know you all!
Miss Bonner, Miss Fitzwilliam and Miss Thomas
