Hello and welcome to year 4 at Glenfrome!
We are ready for a brilliant year, starting with an exciting term. Excitingly, we will be welcoming some new children to the class which will grow our already lovely class.
In English, we'll be going back to basics with our learning and writing stories based on what will be our class text "The thief, the fool and the big fat king" by Terry Deary." which is a very entertaining read and we are sure will inspire some super writing. Spellings are expected to be learnt each week and will be tested on a Friday. Children will choose two spellings from their own word list in their school books to add to their list each week. Spellings for the term can be found here:
In maths, we will be focussing on place value to support learning for the rest of the year, beginning with learning about ones, tens, hundreds and thousands and using physical resources to embed this. There will still be an expectation of children to be continuing with Times Tables Rockstars to continue their multiplication knowledge.
In topic, we will be answering the question 'compare significant Tudors' - the topic web can be found here. We will kick this off with a Tudor Day in week 2!
During October we'll be celebrating Black History Month with a real focus on Dominica as a class. Through this we will celebrate black Bristolians and black Tudors as well.
We are very excited about what is to come in year 4 and hope you all are too!
Miss Bonner and Miss Fitzwilliam :)
