Welcome to a new term in Year 4!
We have come back full of beans and ready for some more super learning. This term is going to be jam-packed in the lead up to Christmas and we are very excited.
For our maths learning, we are going to be really getting to grips with our multiplication and division. Doing lots and lots of practise as well as using our facts to solve more complex problems.
In English, we will be learning how to write biographies about famous people linking to our topic by including some important Tudors. We will be reading the book My Friend Walter by Michael Morpurgo, all about the explorer Walter Raleigh. We will use this to write explanation texts about exploring and finding sea monsters!
Our topic will continue with the Tudors, but this term we will be thinking about why The Matthew is significant to Bristol – learning about its voyages, creators and eventually visiting it later in the term (please let us know if you'd like to join.) Click here to see this term's topic web. We had a brilliant pirate day to begin the topic and during the term we'll be developing our map reading skills and using co-ordinates to find points whilst finding out about life at sea!
Soon (!) we will begin practising for the Christmas concert in phase 2 in December which you will receive more information about sooner the time so get ready to have Christmas songs in your head!
As always, please continue to read as much as possible at home and practise those times tables (they should all know their target table!) and spellings.
Once again, thank you for your continued support and we hope you are looking forward to another successful term as much as we are.
Miss Bonner and Miss Thomas
