Welcome to Term 4!
I hope you had a lovely break and are looking forward to all of the fun learning we have planned for this term. Click here to view our topic web for Term 4.
Our enquiry this term is ''What was life like during Eastville during WW2?." We will be exploing our local area and finding out about Eastville during World War 2. This will include learning about significant events that happened locally, such as the launch of the barrage balloon in Eastville Park. They will also be finding out about daily life at that time, such as the toys children had, the clothes people wore and the food people ate.
Our key authors this term are Janet and Allan Ahlberg. Together, they wrote and illustrated many stories including Each Peach Pear Plum, Funny Bones and Peepo. If you have any of their books at home, it would be great if you could share them with the class.
In English, our key text will be 'Ethel and Ernest,' written by Raymond Briggs. Children will be using all of the skills they have learnt to write in variety of styles linked to World War 2. They will begin by exploring poetry and creating their own piece. They will then move on to writing letters and diary entries in role as evacuees and soldiers. They will practice their grammar skills throughout the term.
In Maths we will be focusing on measurement and covering fractions, money and units of measurement during this term. We will then recap our addition and subtraction skills.
Keep up the great work!
