As part of our foreign languages curriculum at Glenfrome, we teach French to children from years 3 to 6. We follow the national curriculum and use a scheme of work called 'Language Angels' which provides a very visual and interactive way of teaching. Children learn vocabulary, as well as sentences within which to place these new words so that they can share mini conversations with each other. There is also now more emphasis on the written aspects of a foreign language and this is also included in our curriculum. To read our Primary Languages Policy visit the policies page.
As a school with a rich multi-cultural community, we also use other means to celebrate the different languages and cultures within our community and the wider world. We weave global issues into our daily learning, learn about issues that affect children around the world and hold an annual international day event where everyone is invited to celebrate their homeor heritage languages and countries.
