It's been a great year for sport this year at Glenfrome!
We believe that every child should experience and enjoy a diverse range of sports and high-quality physical activities. Children will leave Glenfrome feeling physically confident and competent, with positive attitudes towards physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. Children will be given the opportunity to engage in competitive sport, developing teamwork skills, resilience and learning to win and lose with equal grace.
We follow the P.E Hub scheme during our P.E lessons. In EYFS and KS1, children are taught a range of skills, including gymnastics, hitting, catching and running, and invasion games. In KS2, children build on these skills in athletics, football, tennis, rounders and gymnastics. Additionally, the children learn dance with Kenzi, swimming in Year 4, and ACE provide cricket sessions for Years 4, 5 and 6.
Children have the opportunity to take part in a range of sports during lunch time and after school clubs, including Multi-Sports with Signature Sports, Dance with Kenzi, football, basketball and netball. More to come - watch this space!
Our football teams have enjoyed playing matches against other local schools and our new girls team have been going from strength to strength.
Sports Premium
Glenfrome Primary School realises the importance that PE
plays in the health and well-being of its children. We place PE as a high
importance in our Glenfrome curriculum and extra-curricular activities, as it
has a major contribution in a child's concentration, attitude and achievement.
The Sports Premium funding is allowing the school to develop
an improvement in teacher confidence and a new curriculum based on the core
physical skills.
Sports week every year is used as a way of showing off the
skills children have been developing within their PE sessions. It includes team
games, competitive races and fun activities for all.
