School lunches

At Glenfrome, our meals are prepared in our kitchen, by Bristol City Council’s contracted partner, Chartwells Catering. Children can choose between a hot meal or a salad bar meal. All meals are nutritionally balanced through the week, and we hold taster sessions for parents.

School lunches cost £2.70 each, payable in advance.

Payments should be made on a Monday morning for the week – you can pay online or hand to your class teacher in a sealed envelope, marked with your child’s name and class. Cheques should be made payable to Bristol City Council.

Check the bottom of the page for the current menu and a link to pay.

Packed Lunches

Packed lunches are eaten in the main hall or outside in the garden when the weather is fine. As part of the school’s healthly eating approach we encourage a good mix of healthy foods, with no crisps or sweets. Children having packed lunches must bring it to school with them first thing in the morning. Please provide a suitable container clearly labelled with your child’s name and class.

Are you entitled to Free School Meals?

It is really important that you claim free school meals if you are eligible, even if your child is in Reception or key stage 1. That’s because as well as a nutritionally balanced meal for your child, you will bring in up to £1,300 of extra funding for school.

You can apply for free school meals if you receive one of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit

If you would like help to apply, please come and speak to someone in the office.
