Pupil voice

At Glenfrome, we value our children’s opinions and empower them to change and improve our school.

Our school council is a group of children who have been elected by their peers to represent their class. The purpose of the council is to ensure that pupils have opportunities to voice their views and ideas about all aspects of school life; fairness is a core value for us at Glenfrome.

Elections are held annually in Term 1, selecting two children from each class (years 1 – 6). The council itself elect a chairperson and deputies, which takes place at the first meeting of the year. The children run meetings and take minutes, which they then take back to class to share.

Recent examples of work by the school council:

  • Giving feedback on designs for our new play equipment
  • Helping shape our school’s wellbeing and relationships policy
  • Coming up with new names for our four school houses

Eco Council

Similar to School Council, each class elects to Eco Councillors who meet reguarly to find ways to make Glenfrome as green as possible. Eco council work to ensure we are recycling as much as possible, lead assemblies on green modes of travel and join in projects with external visitors who are working on green projects.

Recent examples of work by the eco council:

  • Finding new methods to recycle our school stationery
  • Leading the yearly Big Walk and Wheel travel to school event
