Year 4 - Hazel and Oak

Welcome back to Term 4!

Another exciting term in Year 4. We are kicking off term 4 by learning all about the human digestive system. We will be studying it in detail in science and writing an explanation text in English to showcase what we have learned. Maths is all about fractions, and later in the term, decimals. We will also be beginning our history topic about the Roman Empire and its impact on Britain.

Swimming will continue to be on a Wednesday at Easton Leisure Centre.

- Drop Off & Pick Up
- Children should be in school ready to learn at 8.45. The gate to the decking will open at 8.30 and children should wait on the decking for the classroom door to be opened at 8.45.
  
  School finishes at 3.15 - adults should wait by the school gate and children will be dismissed from the decking.
- P.E
- Children should have a full P.E kit and appropriate footwear in school.
  
  Monday: Outdoor P.E
  
  Wednesday: Swimming
- Timestables
- There is a strong focus on timestables in Year 4 - we will be doing lots of practice at school!
  
  It would be fantastic if your child could practise their timestables at home. Each child has a login for Times Tables Rockstars which is a great online program they can use to practise.
- Homework and Spellings
- Homework is set each Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday. It will be a short task based on what we are learning in school, and your child should be able to complete it independently.
  
  New spellings will be taught on a Friday and tested the following Friday. A spelling list for the term will be sent home in Week 1, and can also be found in Google Classroom.
  
  As a school, we are trying to move towards Google Classroom but we understand this does not work for all families. If you would prefer a homework book, please let your child's class teacher know.
