4 Learning Partnership
We are working with three other primary schools in East Central Bristol, to create a local and shared community of inner city schools. We learn from each other, share excellent practice and pool resources to ensure that children in our area receive the very best opportunities.
Each school is unique, but we share a common purpose – excellence for all our children. Parents can be sure that whichever school they choose in the partnership, they will get the same high quality teaching, wide opportunities for enrichment and a friendly learning community. As well as all of these teaching and learning benefits, we are strengthening our shared community. Our children learn and play together, through sports competitions, our annual spelling bee, chess tournaments and the St Werburgh's Y6 careers fair. We also get together to teach our more able students – for example our top Year 6 mathematicians - to ensure they reach their full potential.
At Glenfrome we believe that we should be the centre of the Eastville community. We want our children to get out and about, as well as invite the community in to the school, both through lettings, and to share in the children’s learning.
Our children have been lucky enough to work on some amazing local projects including; improving the M32 underpass, (yes the woodpeckers towers and roundabout art were us!) and design new signs and maps for Eastville Park and lake alongside the Friends of Eastville Park. We love working with the Amazing APE Project, who not only promote outdoor play and learning with our families by facilitating our hugely popular Stay and Play sessions, but also run bike swaps and sales in the school. See the gallery at the bottom of this page to get a feel for some of our community involvement activities. Click here for more info about APE.
We are pleased and delighted to have been working with DAS Legal Expenses for over ten years. They have supported Glenfrome in many ways, from providing our football kit to listening to readers!
We also have reading volunteers from Hargreaves Lansdown. We train the volunteers as better reading partners. They come in and work with children each week, and are rewarded by watching the children fly with their reading.
We also work closely with Colston's School. Sixth Form volunteers come in weekly to play maths games with some of our children and listen to readers. They find it extremely rewarding and the children look forward to the visits.
