As part of our foreign languages curriculum at Glenfrome, we teach French to children from years 3 to 6. We follow the national curriculum and use software called 'Salut!' which provides a very visual and interactive way of teaching. Children learn vocabulary, as well as sentences within which to place these new words so that they can share mini conversations with each other. There is also now more emphasis on the written aspects of a foreign language and this is also included in our curriculum. Follow this link to see our policy on language teaching at Glenfrome. As a school with a rich multi-cultural community, we also use other means to celebrate the different languages and cultures within our community and the wider world. We weave global issues into our daily learning, learn about issues that affect children around the world and hold an annual day celebrating an aspect of different cultures and languages. This year we held a World Cup day which we celebrated on June 14th (the first day of the Football World Cup) where each class chose one of the qualifying countries to learn about. The children thoroughly enjoy these days as you can see from the photos.
