Transition to secondary school September 2018 information
Over the next few weeks secondary schools will be having open days/evenings for you and your child to visit. We strongly recommend you visit schools with your child to help you both decide on which schools are best suited to your child. You can choose three preferences so it would be beneficial to have three schools in mind when applying.
All applications for secondary school places must be completed by 31st October 2017. This is to be done online at this address: www.bristol.gov.uk/schooladmissions
Attached is a list of local schools that many of our pupils have transferred to in recent years. There are dates and times you are able to visit them to have a look around to help you choose your three preferences.
The preferred method of application is on-line and admissions would prefer you use this method where possible. This is the preferred method of application because:
- The system helps applicants by checking for errors.
- There is no risk that applications will be lost in the post.
- It is quick and easy to do.
- Applicants will receive an immediate email confirming that their application has been received.
- Applicants will receive email notification of the outcome of their application.
If you do not have access to the internet at home, free on-line facilities are available at all public libraries in Bristol. In addition parents/carers can use the internet at the Citizen Service Point located in Central Bristol. You are also welcome to use the school computers by prior arrangement and a member of staff will be able to help you with this process if needed. Please call the school office to make an appointment.
Please note: Some schools also require another form to be completed as well as the online application to the Bristol.gov.uk site. You will be informed when you visit these schools.
